Hi, I'd like to invite all cartoonists out there (if you are not, perhaps someone you know), to a CARTOONIST CONFERENCE, held in conjunction with the World Book and Copyright Day. Go to http://cedko.com/, and if you are interested, you can register at http://cedko.com/calendar_event.php?eid=20060223181957525.
The event would be on Sunday, 23/04/06 - all day, at Armada Hotel, Petaling Jaya Selangor, Malaysia. Insha' Allah, I'll be one of the humbly speakers during the event. Humble because, compared to other big names like cartoonists LAT and REGGIE LEE (gasp! gasp!). There’ll be not just talks, but also other great schedules that have been lined up for you. So, hurry guys, because there'll be discounts for early birds!!!
Meantime, for those who have not seen the cartoonish side of me, here's a taste of my 'official' logo that I have been using for more than 4 years now, whenever I need to sign or initial not-so-official documents/letters.
FYI, the left side of the spectacle represents 'A', nose represents 'B', hair represents 'N'. Together, ABN represents the initial of my name - ABduN. While the right side of the spectacle represents 'A', as in my dad's name - Ahmad.
Of course, the face can change his looks depending on the moods of the signatory, hehe... and also the nature of the documents/letters to be signed. For examples; a face beaming with smile, laughing out loud, winking an eye, a sour face, with fangs, wearing songkok, with an eye patch, looking mad etc. etc. But BE WARNED folks, NO unauthorised use of this logo, as this is MY TRADEMARK & COPYRIGHT LOGO... Appreciate the help… Cheers...
Had another memorable journey of a lifetime to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia from 8 to 12 March 2006. For my parents and wife, their trip was on me, while my sister and her family also tagged along. Will definitely document this trip, after other trips have been covered, and when I can squeeze some free time to do so.
On the final day of our trip, my mother brought up that, this was the first time we had a family trip together i.e. only consisted of her and her family. True, we travelled before to other places, but there were other relatives with us. She felt so happy that she could enjoy the places in KK Sabah with her husband, her son, her daughter, her two grand-daughters, her two in-laws (and also the maid to her daughter who is also very much part of her family).
A few people (especially those who could not attend the wedding) have been asking me to upload some wedding photos. FYI, I haven't got the time to scan the photos to my PC before uploading them here and to my website (heck! I have't even done the same to my India photos). Further, I want to document those journeys (the wedding/honeymoon + the India trip) properly, so that you will enjoy reading them, as though you were (still) there.
Actually, I still am very comfortable taking (or asking someone to take) photos the traditional way, using my 'old' (analog?) camera. The reason? Well, I still like the camera, quite a sentimental value, that one. It brings back memories... lots of emotions and scenic views have been captured by it. Just to mention a few - my graduation day, my Europe trip with friends and families (and other trips), weddings, seminars, birthdays, farewells and of course, photos of my beloved grandmother just days before her death.
But then, I may still have to resort getting myself a digital camera one day. I mean let's face it, with digital cameras, no need to buy so many films (save money) and can snap (or delete) pictures that you like (or don't like) easily.
BACK TO THE TOPIC, SO HERE ARE SOME 'SNEAK PREVIEWS' ON THE WEDDING EVENT (MORE GREAT WEDDING & HONEYMOON PHOTOS TO COME) REMEMBER... YOU SEE THEM HERE FIRST GUYS, THEY ARE BROUGHT EXCLUSIVELY TO YOU. NO OTHER MEDIA HAS ACCESS TO THEM, LET ALONE THE MEANS TO PUBLISH THEM....Hmmm, I may sound like I'm some kind of celebrity huh? Perhaps some of you might even say.....D'uuuuhhhhhh to yourself........ Hehehehehehe.
Topics to come: 1. It's NOT just because of CARTOONS, you MORONIC BABOONS - probably my next 'controversial' piece of writing. 2. How to survive the "Hippopotamus" - hey, it's a wild jungle out there! 3. Numbers - as I try to add some significant numbers in my life and come out with some (funny, stupid, meaningless or brilliant?) conclusion from the result.
The Oxford Dictionary says "boulevard" means wide city street, often with trees on each side. As for me, "boulevard" is the path that I thread my way through in life. At times, the trees give me protection from the hot sun above. While at other times, no amount of trees can comfort me when it pours. Come rain or shine, the road continues to provide me with the journey of life until it reaches its destination.
People say I'm sweet, kind, a gentleman, caring, romantic and observant (let's just concentrate on the good attributes). I love those who matter to me, and care about things that count. I'm a Malay Muslim and proud to be one. I DON'T think Islam should be judged by those nasty followers. Islam should be judged by the religion itself; its teachings and the purpose behind them. I mean, humans will still behave like humans right? Usually, regardless of religions that they embrace. It is also in my nature to please, since I believe that TO PLEASE EVERYONE IS AN IMPOSSIBLE FEAT, BUT NOT TRYING TO PLEASE ANYONE OTHER THAN ONESELF IS A POSSIBLE DEFEAT (own quote). Apart from sharing the things I read, watch and listen to, I'd also share my thoughts and feelings, and express my views on certain issues. Last by no means least, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE OF YOU OUT THERE ABOUT ANYTHING! If we knew each other 'in the previous life' and had lost contact, or we hardly contact each other nowadays, do email me or comment on my entries. Feel free to explore my blog & website (http://members.fortunecity.com/abdunmy/). Cheerio & Wassalam.
Sometimes, to boldly go (where no one has gone before) at warp speed may cause you unnecessary troubles.

Lesson from the quote: Rushing to reach your destinations or goals may get you there fast, but may not always be the smartest thing to do!
You have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over the hurdles and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don't have that kind of feeling for what it is you are doing, you'll stop at the first giant hurdle.
